Facebook’s cooler, snazzier little sister, the photo-sharing platform was acquired in 2012 for 1 billion dollars, just two years after it launched.
Founded in 2010, Israeli company Onavo performs web analytics on other mobile apps to determine customer usage. FB acquired it in 2013 for an undisclosed sum pegged between $100-$200 million.
Does anyone send text messages these days? Almost everyone is on WhatsApp, from individuals to businesses. Facebook bought the messaging service for a whopping $19 billion in 2014.
Acquired in 2014 for $2 billion, Oculus VR is a virtual reality hardware company. Facebook’s acquisition came at a time when developers and marketers were showing a deeper interest in VR.
In 2020, Facebook bought Kustomer for approx $1 billion. It is a CRM startup that gives small businesses tools to manage customer communications via phone, email, text, WhatsApp or Messenger.
